Renshi Akihito's Visit

Recently we were visited By Renshi Akihito Yagi from Okinawa. Sensei Yagi conducted a number of classes and seminars for our students and visitors. Sensei is a master tecnician in Kata and Kumite and we were very lucky for him to share some of his knowledge with us.

 Congratulations are in order for Renshi Akihito Yagi.

Renshi Akihito Yagi has trained in Meibukan Gojyu-Ryu for over 25 years with Grand Master Meitoku Yagi, his grandfather, and Master Meitatsu Yagi, his father.  He is an excellant technician and over the years consistently competed and won in the All Okinawa Karate Championships in both kata and jiyu kumite (free sparring). Renshi Akihito Yagi is currently teaching at the Hombu Dojo in Okinawa. As well as being an accomplished musician with several CDs he has two martial arts feature films to his credit.  Renshi Akihito Yagi has travelled with Master Meitatsu Yagi teaching seminars and spreading Meibukan Gojyu-Ryu. 

Commemerative Coin

To help fund the celebrations in Okinawa next year we are selling a commerative coin. The coin is 4.5 cm in diameter and will feature a picture of Dai Sensei Yagi on one side and the meibukan crest on the other. The production is limited so the coin will become a collectors item in the future. The cost is just $20, if you would like please contact Sensei Jim asap.

Training DVD

We have training DVD's available for purchase.  The DVD's contain all Kata, Ippon Kumite and lots of other interesting information about our style of Karate.  They are an excellent training and practise tool that I would encourage all students to use at home to further their training.  They are especially useful coming up to Gradings.  They are reasonably priced at $20.00.
